Re: Image transparency

Hey Gaz! I saw your question on Da braviary's talk page, and I'm pretty sure I can answer your question, or at least sort of. If you're talking about modifying an image to give it transparency and upload it onto PidgiWiki, I'd politely ask you not to. Why? PidgiWiki is a collection of video game artwork that aims to get the most original versions of images as possible. This means the least amount of editing done. While there might be a version of an image without a background, if we don't have that version, we use the best we have and don't try to modify it.

On the flip side, if you just meant in general and not for upload to PidgiWiki, that's a completely different story. I use Paint.NET as my main image editor, as does Da braviary, so I don't know if either of us can give you a GIMP tutorial. Thank you!--immewnity (talk) 03:09, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Well could you please tell me how to do it in Paint.NET then? I also was wondering how YoshiKong found these transparent DK Jungle Beat artwork images, because I didn't know transparency was supported on images in 2004. I'd like it if you could give me information on both. Thanks. Gaz (talk) 19:12, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
With Paint.NET, it's all about managing the tolerance of the Magic Wand tool. I also like using a plugin called AA's Assistant.
Regarding the image YoshiKong uploaded, I think those came from a press site, though they may have been from a press CD. We have some images with transparency support from at least 1998, but transparent images definitely existed well before then.--immewnity (talk) 23:09, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

High-resolution images

What images are you referring to? We've got many images and many sources.--immewnity (talk) 21:29, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

I mean: "How do I locate these TIFF files online or these transparent high quality images? Any advice? Gaz (talk) 22:40, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
You say "these TIFF files". Which TIFF files? "these transparent high quality images" - which ones?
We have a lot of sources, ranging from press CDs to press sites to contacts... a whole lot. We're trying to compile them all into one location, PidgiWiki. If there's something you're looking for and can't find, you can send in a request, and we'll exhaust our resources looking for it.--immewnity (talk) 21:08, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
What about beta screenshots? Those would be excellent. And you answered my TIFF question. Gaz (talk) 19:31, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
Screenshots is something that we've thought about and at one time did, but it got too confusing. It's definitely something we'd like to look at again, though; I'll take a look and see if there's a way to figure it out. Glad that got answered.--immewnity (talk) 20:42, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
You will not forget about the DKC GBA trilogy and DKC GBC assets request, right? The screenshots will be really nice. Gaz (talk) 23:22, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
