Replace JPG with PNG?

I'd like to replace a non-transparent JPG file with a transparent PNG file, but I'm not quite sure the correct process to do that. When using the "Upload a better version of this file" link, the upload is denied, due to the different file extension of the current file. -- TiMeBoMb4u2 (talk) 17:56, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

Question

Hi Immewnity, do you have any of the following discs? I happen to have them and am happy to create ISO files of them for you:

I did not take photos of the discs and am definitely not selling them on eBay. :P

I also have the European GameCube Mini CD-ROM, but I downloaded it from an ISO site. Gaz (talk) 19:41, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

I have the Mini CD and the Nintendo Power disc - feel free to add the preview disc ISO to the FTP.--immewnity (talk) 07:19, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
Done. The file name is "Nintendo Preview.iso"; it's in the FTP server's root. Gaz (talk) 23:48, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

File Name Accidents

Immewnity, I'm sorry about me accidentally uploading files on to this wiki with bad filenames. I'm so used to uploading files on a wiki from a red link. I'm just making sure you're not upset at me is all; I've made this mistake about four or five times. Gaz (talk) 22:27, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

No worries! It's all good. --immewnity (talk) 14:46, 3 June 2015 (UTC)

Secret Nintendo of Europe Site

Yo Immewnity, I found a secret Nintendo of Europe site which can be used to save some of Nintendo of Europe's content on to the Wayback Machine, unlike the other main sites: http://test01-gz06ghmn.nintendo.co.uk.

Cool, isn't it? I just saved Mario Party DS's site on the Wayback Machine this way. :D Gaz (talk) 15:48, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

Huh, cool! Nice find! That's definitely useful.--immewnity (talk) 20:04, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

Hey!

I'm Mario/Bazooka Mario from MarioWiki. We had a discussion about the Mario images recently, but in the meantime, I decided to sign up and help around with the categories and all. Let me know if I'm editing and categorizing correctly since I'm new here. It's just to let you know. Thanks! LeftyGreenMario (talk) 23:08, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

All right then! I'll be waiting until you're ready. In the meantime, my sister has decided to help with the uploading images here, so don't panic if you find another user sharing an I.P. with me, also uploading images that you've given me. LeftyGreenMario (talk) 22:24, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
1.34 GB, eh? Well, I can suggest some media cloud site like Dropbox or Mediafire, which have file upload limits that exceed well over 1.34 GB. But if the site crashes or something like that, you can split it into two files or more. LeftyGreenMario (talk) 03:52, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
Oh, you have MegaDrive! Ah, well, I'm downloading the file now! :) LeftyGreenMario (talk) 03:53, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
Got the files! Who's going to upload? LeftyGreenMario (talk) 04:06, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Request

Please delete this image as quickly as you can. If you look closely, that image is just a low-resolution sprite, noticeably by its indexed quality and inflated size. Meanwhile, I do have artwork of it in the Prima eGuide and I don't feel like giving a different name, especially when this wiki emphasizes on naming files properly. Thanks! LeftyGreenMario (talk) 20:32, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Oh, yeah, I do have some more coming. I have recolors for all the Smash Bros. cast bar DLC characters. And, yeah, some might look like cheap recolors, but, as you see from Duck Hunt artwork (and future artwork such as Beach trunk Shulk), they seem to be official. Thanks, by the way! LeftyGreenMario (talk) 01:34, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
Yeah. I'd like to note that even in the ripped sprites, some artifacts leftover from Photoshop recoloring you see on the artwork on Prima guide, it carries over on those sprites. I'll give it the benefit of doubt and upload those nevertheless! LeftyGreenMario (talk) 02:54, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Splatoon Style Guide

Hey! I have a question: where did you find the Splatoon Style Guide? Thanks you very much. Nintando (talk) 20:55, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Ah, ok. And the Logo usage guide - Nintendo.pdf ? And the Nintendo 3DS asset usage guide.pdf ? Nintando (talk) 15:56, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

High quality card scans

Heya, I noticed that there are some ridiculously high quality .png scans of Heart Gold/Soul Silver cards on this wiki. I also noticed that there were two scans of a similar quality of Diamond/Pearl/Platinum series cards, but couldn't find any more. Would you happen to have any more that I simply haven't found, or perhaps know anywhere that I could find such high quality scans? I've literally never seen them anywhere on the internet, all the other scans are either small or blurry, but these scans on this wiki were extremely crisp and huge too. TSG (talk) 20:02, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

Press kits etc

Hi

I'm collecting pre-release Nintendo stuff (especially 2004-2006 stuff), and I wondered if you mind sending me some press kit stuff I don't have. I prefer stuff in (redump quality) ISO format, with information on what was written on the box and disc. This is what I have. I'm willing to send you stuff that you want. EDIT: I only just realised this whole site is for press stuff. Great! Does it/will it accept official gameplay video or images? And may I upload PSDs? Some stuff comes in that format originally, and I don't have photoshop so I cannot losslessly convert them to PNG (GIMP and Irfanview mess up colours/layers). --Hiccup (talk) 11:29, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

Good to know. BTW, can I have access to the FTP, if that still exists? And what naming should be used for screenshots? Same sort of thing as artwork? --Hiccup (talk) 15:55, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
Hi Immewnity, I'm the guy who introduced Hiccup to here. Redumped ISOs would be fine with me as well (original source format reasons). Gaz (talk) 00:34, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Source of images

Hi
What is the source of these images?:
File:Logo - Pokemon 20th Anniversary.svg
File:Logo (simple) - Pokemon 20th Anniversary.svg
File:Pattern - Pokemon 20th Anniversary.svg
Thank you
Nintandi (talk) 19:54, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

3 Patrons, Good Job

Hi Immewnity, I have two things to say:

1. I pretty much told Hiccup about this place, which I mentioned earlier. 2. Congrats on getting three patrons. Did you promote this site better or did it happen as time went along? 3. When did you start allowing screenshot uploads?

As always, good luck on this site.

Gaz (talk) 05:39, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Just Wondering But

Why are we not allowed to link to press sites. I was wondering that since the start because I would see all of these images without a source. I was seeing recent changes and was only wondering. Gaz (talk) 08:44, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

Also, I can never find a time to chat on Skype. Will you be free from responsibilities this Easter break? And that's interesting (the press site), but I felt like it would be respectful if you gave credit. Gaz (talk) 01:48, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

Should screenshots have characters listed?

Also, can the "event" field have stuff like "E3 2005" listed? And one more thing, could I/you add a date field? --Hiccup (talk) 19:09, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

PS3, PSVita and XBox 360 systems

I was wondering if you could add the PS3, PSVita and XBox 360 systems to the template. --Moonboy65 (talk) 15:01, 21 March 2016 (UTC)

I'd also appreciate this :P --Hiccup (talk) 17:16, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

Other allowed content types

More questions about what type of stuff is allowed:

 • Official screenshots that are viewable in-game (or left unused in the game data)
 • Sound files from press CDs/sites

Also, does anybody on this site have money to throw away? :P This guy is selling a bunch of press kits. http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/fs-boxed-nr-reader-nr-discs-and-allot-of-other-promo-items.37233/--Hiccup (talk) 17:11, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

How should dates be formatted in filenames?

I need to specify which Nintendo Direct a screenshot is from. --Hiccup (talk) 19:07, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

Subevents

How is the the new subevent field meant to be used? Like this?:
Event: E3
Subevent: E3 2005

Or this?:

Event: E3 2005
Subevent: Nintendo Conference

--Hiccup (talk) 14:44, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

Multiple things

Do you have any images of the packaging/discs that Gaz posted on assemblergames? I want to make sure I name them appropriatly when referring to them in file descriptions.

Also; could you make it so you can have multiple sources in an infobox, and set one as the "main - the highest quality one that is uploaded to the site? Sometimes screenshots can be found on multiple official sites. Sorry if I'm annoying you with my constant questions. --Hiccup (talk) 11:08, 30 March 2016 (UTC)

Okay. One last thing: if I want access to stuff that isn't on the FTP I think you might have access to, do you mind if I request it? --Hiccup (talk) 16:16, 30 March 2016 (UTC)
Okay: Videos and screenshots from: Sonic Rush, Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, New Super Mario Bros., New Super Mario Bros. Wii, the Super Mario Galaxy series, the Paper Mario series and. These are the games I want to focus on/am interested in :P. Or if they are on the FTP, could you maybe give me a pointer to the locations? I don't really want to download loads of stuff to find out what is/isn't relevant. --Hiccup (talk) 16:41, 30 March 2016 (UTC)
I'll explore a bit more then. About the CDs: could you tell me what was written on them and their packaging? --Hiccup (talk) 11:34, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

Videos

Could you add support for uploading videos, even if they can't be embedded? I'd really like to start archiving video stuff. --Hiccup (talk) 16:32, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for adding ogv, webm and mp4. Could you also add mov, wmv and flv? Those seem to be the format that most (or all) the stuff I have was distributed in. --Hiccup (talk) 16:58, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
Okay, I'll upload my mp4 stuff. What is your opinion on uploading avis (when the security issues are sorted out)? Should they somehow be losslessly compressed or somehow converted into a smaller lossless format? --Hiccup (talk) 17:27, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
Could you add support for AVIs? I don't think they have any security flaws. I've got eight high-quality E3 2005 DS trailers from GameFront that I'd like to upload. --Hiccup (talk) 18:50, 13 September 2016 (UTC)
I see. I may have already asked this, but if I send you some vulnerable-format videos that I have confirmed are virus-free, could you upload them? Or can you not make those formats only upload-able by admins? If so, do you have any ideas on how to get around this vunerable-formats problem? --Hiccup (talk) 08:29, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

How to know what to name "main art"?

How do I determine if it should be named "key art", "group art", "character art" or what? --Hiccup (talk) 18:39, 5 April 2016 (UTC)

More content questions

Should these be included on the wiki:

 • Unofficial scans of manuals
 • Official scans of manuals
 • "Beta" screenshots extracted from manual (or would this be unecersary if whole manuals/pages were uploaded?)
 • Magazine scans
 • Videos of "beta" versions taken at events (like E3(etc) 2005/6 demo versions of NSMB)

--Hiccup (talk) 14:44, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, you have a point about the legality of magazine scans. I agree with that. But what about defunct magazines? (which could include the recently (2012) discontinued Nintendo Power magazine). --Hiccup (talk) 19:00, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

Three questions

1. For DSiWare games, should the system be "Nintendo DSi" or "DSiWare"? 2. You know you said there were security issues with certain video formats? What were they? 3. Could you post a complete directory listing of the FTP? That would help with navigating it a lot. Thanks --Hiccup (talk) 18:53, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

1. Okay. Do you think "subsystem" would be a good field? For stuff like DSiWare? 2. Could you enable WMVs etc if I virus check (using virustotal.com) every upload I make for those formats? Maybe that should be a rule for all uploads of those formats?
3. Even if it was outdated, it'd still be helpful. And maybe for the new stuff, you could post change logs? Just a sugestion. --Hiccup (talk) 12:08, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the directory listing. Regarding the video-virus problem, would it be possible to limit those types, so only trusted people can upload them? --Hiccup (talk) 16:15, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
Okay. I wonder if an indirect method would work: a bot that deletes all uploads of that type by users that aren't on a "whitelist"? --Hiccup (talk) 15:08, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
Seems like a pretty big problem. If there is some way to have externally hosted files on the wiki, I'd be willing to use space on my file hosting accounts (google drive, mega etc) --Hiccup (talk) 16:42, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
Sorry about the bombardment of messages, but I've had another idea :P. Would it solve the problem if all WMVs (etc) were uploaded in archives (e.g. ZIPs)? --Hiccup (talk) 10:24, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

HTTPS for pidgi

Hi could you enable https please.

You can use https://letsencrypt.org/ which is free and is sponsered by mozzila and facebook and other big companys.

I keep getting something about insecure image.

Nitro PDF

Could you send me a link to the program files folder of the installed program? I can't use the installer. --Hiccup (talk) 18:50, 20 May 2016 (UTC)

The problem is I don't have admin access on this machine to use the installer. --Hiccup (talk) 12:24, 27 May 2016 (UTC)
Maybe so, but the program is free. Couldn't you email me the files? :P --Hiccup (talk) 09:47, 28 May 2016 (UTC)
Oh, okay. Never mind. --Hiccup (talk) 16:28, 28 May 2016 (UTC)

How should files be named if they pertain to more than one game?

Should it even have the " - Game Name" bit? --Hiccup (talk) 19:47, 28 May 2016 (UTC)

Well, I'm referring to the E3 2004 Game Informer Online footage I recently uploaded. How should that be dealt with? --~~

Different platforms for one game

How should different boxes for different platforms be dealt with? E.g. Box NA (Nintendo 3DS) - Zero Time Dilemma.jpg or Box NA - Zero Time Dilemma (Nintendo 3DS).jpg --Hiccup (talk) 10:13, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

Sorry about the SM64 box art

That was an obvious mistake. --Hiccup (talk) 16:59, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

Could you add support for EPS files?

It is sometimes used instead of PSD. Thanks --Hiccup (talk) 13:32, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

The reason I uploaded them was for them to be converted later. I realise that they are much better converted into a common format like PNG. I'll try and get ghostscript sorted out for EPS in the future though. --Hiccup (talk) 11:50, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
Yeah I do, where's this script? :P --Hiccup (talk) 14:23, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

Filling the "Set" descriptor

Hey there! Just a question that came to me while I was browsing, are we meant to fill the "Set" descriptor on Template:Info like how it has been done here and here? It seems to be a mistake, but I wasn't completely certain. Thanks.

Vulpix, Ninetales, Exeggutor, Sandshrew and Sandslash

Hey Immewnity, I saw you uploaded High-Res artwork for Meowth, Raichu and Marowak (since they got Alolan forms. But I don't see the other Pokémon on there (specifically Vulpix, Ninetales, Sandshrew, Sandslash and Exeggutor), I wonder if there was even any High-Res artwork for them. --Moonboy65 (talk) 16:21, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

Wrong RGB images

I'm trying to fix some of the artworks with the wrong RGB coloration, I was wondering how you fixed the coloration for Ralts and Cacnea because I would love to help you with the rest of them. --Moonboy65 (talk) 03:16, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

Some of them don't have ANY change or have very little change when I'm doing the CMYK to RGB convertion, idk how to fix them. --Moonboy65 (talk) 03:58, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

"Beta" logo naming

Hi. Do you think it is a good idea to name early logos by their date or event, if it is known, rather than just calling them "beta"? And if so, how should it be done? One of these combinations?:

 • "File:Logo (E3 2005) NA - Mario & Luigi Partners in Time.png"
 • "File:E3 2005 Logo NA - Mario & Luigi Partners in Time.png"
 • "File:Logo (E3 2005)- Mario & Luigi Partners in Time.png"
 • "File:E3 2005 Logo - Mario & Luigi Partners in Time.png"

[note that there is are no different versions of this E3 2005 logo - just the one international version] --Hiccup (talk) 19:56, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Big video file (453 MB)

Hi! Could you change the wiki so it can upload files of at least 453 MB (475,839,736 bytes specifically)? At least temporarily? I have a high-quality MP4 video of E3 2009 that has a bunch of game footage that I'd like to upload, and I don't want to lose any quality by converting it. EDIT: Also, should the description field contain the game's name? --Hiccup (talk) 13:50, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

Okay. For now I'm going to put all the non-compatible video files in a google drive folder, and you can have access if you want. --Hiccup (talk) 19:11, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

Re: Console categories

Yeah. I wanted some way to differentiate "Wii console" media from "Wii game" media, without resorting to using google to search for files that have " - Wii" in them. Wii is just an example - any other console also applies. --Hiccup (talk) 18:24, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

Okay. I'll re-do those files. --Hiccup (talk) 18:42, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
Yeah mostly, but there are some that don't have info boxes that I'll sort out. Also, what should be done if it has a game listed, but it is for a console (e.g. the game "Mario Kart DS" listed for an image of the Mario Kart DS themed NDS console)? Should I delete the game(s) or could you make a parameter for these situations? --Hiccup (talk) 18:46, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

Removing press sites from sources

I recall you saying via email that I shouldn't add press sites to the source field of media, due to legal issues. Should I go about removing (or replacing with "Nintendo of [country]"), press sites from previously-uploaded media's infoboxes - if I happen to be editing one? Or should I just leave them be? --Hiccup (talk) 18:56, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

Another file format question

Could you add support from .doc formats? Some old press releases are in that format. Also, you may be interested to know that you can probably extract some sort vector logos from these documents. --Hiccup (talk) 19:25, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

Seems like Word lets you save them as PDF perfectly fine, so I'll do that. An unrelated file question; how do you determine what files are a security risk? Aren't WMV, MOV, MPG and MP4 vulnerabilities only for end users who open the files in outdated versions of video players? --Hiccup (talk) 10:20, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
Could you add MP3? It seems to be one of MediaWiki's allowed formats, and converting them to OGG cannot be done losslessly, apparently. If not, then a lossless format like WAV or FLAC would be good. --Hiccup (talk) 02:04, 1 October 2016 (UTC)

Re: File:Logo EN - Paper Mario Color Splash.png

Sorry for not being clearer. Hopefully these will explain my thinking: 12 --Hiccup (talk) 11:50, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

Useful tool

This tool may be useful in situations when a logo is provided as a version with a white background and a version with with a black background, but no transparent BG version. These images may be relevant: 1 2 3 --Hiccup (talk) 17:43, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

Re: E-mail

Thanks for the email. I've replied. --Hiccup (talk) 12:19, 2 October 2016 (UTC)

Two small niggles with the site

I've noticed two slight annoyances while using the wiki:

 • If a date is set to just a year, it displays some sort of "dummy" day and month
 • There is no "watch" button (for adding pages to the watchlist) in the default (MetroLook) theme. --Hiccup (talk) 17:45, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

Cropping logos

Would it be okay if I didn't crop logos when uploading? The blank space doesn't really take up any storage space (especially in PNGs) and I think they may be intended as "boundaries", for when logos are used near to text etc. Alternatively, the boundaries could be marked in the description, like "+10 pixels on all sides". What do you think of that? Also, which is better:

 • Logo (E3 2012) (alt 3) EN - Kid Icarus Uprising.png

or

 • Logo (E3 2012) EN (alt 3) - Kid Icarus Uprising.png

or something else? --Hiccup (talk) 17:01, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

"Sub-characters"

If a piece of artwork depicts a character (e.g. Koopa Paratroopa), that is also a "sub-character" of another character (e.g. Koopa Troopa), should both characters be listed in the artworks field? Or should it be handled by just putting the sub-character, and making the sub-character category a sub-category of the parent-character category? (e.g. put "" in the "Category:Koopa Paratroopa")? --Hiccup (talk) 11:42, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

Do the latter for now - if we want to do the former, we can script it for the few instances for which this situation happens.--immewnity (talk) 13:34, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

Re: Watchlist and The Betabase

Watch button seems to function fine (apart from the hover image glitching out on some browser setups) and great news on the betabase! Should I start making uploads? Or should I wait until you've created a bit more of the organizational "skeleton"? I assume I should make a new account for the betabase? And finally; I've started making playlists for games and series-es on the youtube channel - you might want to consider linking those on the game pages (or game categories, in the case of PidgiWiki). --Hiccup (talk) 09:59, 11 October 2016 (UTC)

Immewnity, I have a question about the Betabase--can we delete any screenshots from here if they get uploaded to the Betabase? Gaz (talk) 20:12, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

One artwork, multiple games

Hi. If a piece of artwork (http://www.pidgi.net/wiki/File:Blooper_-_New_Super_Mario_Bros.png) was released in higher resolution for a later game (Mario Kart Wii), how should it be handled?

 • One file (the higher res one) named "Blooper - New Super Mario Bros.png" and categorised as being for New Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart Wii
 • Two files: one lower-res - categorised as and named as being for New Super Mario Bros. the other higher-res - categorised as and as being for Mario Kart Wii?

I'm leaning towards the former - if the artwork seems to be identical other than the size. --Hiccup (talk) 13:49, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

Okay. Should it be done like that even if the artwork is only used in a handful of games (e.g. three)? --Hiccup (talk) 13:31, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Character/object naming

Should characters/objects be named using the latest official naming, or the official naming from when the game was released/from at-the-time materials relating to the game (e.g. guides, manuals)? --Hiccup (talk) 13:55, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

How did you transparent-ize this image?

Logo (E3 2006) EN - The Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass. I opened the PSD from the E3 2006 artwork disc in Photoshop CS6, but it doesn't seem to have a "white background" layer, so I couldn't just delete that then save as transparent RGB PNG. Is the mask hidden somewhere? Does it use some old feature so I need an old version of photoshop? --Hiccup (talk) 18:46, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Categorization policy

Hello Immewnity. I understand that you have been busy, and I do apologise for bringing this up mid-week. But these past few days have actually been a good opportunity in my schedule to think about how PidgiWiki should be documenting categories and their respective sub-categories. I've noticed that on the main page, the link to "Categorization guidelines" is now redirected to template info, and "Category pages" could be expanded. I would like to propose that we organise all of our categorization guidelines onto one policy page, most likely under "PidgiWiki:Categorization". The content as for now can be seen at User:YoshiKong/PidgiWiki:Categorization. A summary is as follows:

 • To have at least 11 "main" categories, including "logos", "character", "events", etc. All categories from PidgiWiki will branch from these main categories, providing a proper method of navigation around the website. Template:Info is linked to, and it is mentioned how the template is the main method of categorizing files.
 • Instructions on how to create a category page, including adding a parent category and an expansion on the recommended wording guidelines seen at PidgiWiki:Category pages.
 • Examples of every type of category organised under specific headers, along with which types of parents each category page should have.
 • Some proposed structural changes to the different levels of categories (you'll notice a few red links on the draft which include new types of categories such as "Category:The Legend of Zelda series logos", which I believe subcategories such as this can split up large categories such as "Logos" and ease navigation).
 • I've begun a two-colored pattern so it's easier to visually distinguish between sections on the policy page. If you like the idea and choice of colors, I'll finish coding it.

That should be all for now. Again, I'm sorry for throwing this on you when you must be very busy. But please take your time to go through it when you are able to manage. Thank you so much!

Shokora (talk) 23:21, 25 October 2016 (UTC)

Hey. If the semantic search can be set up to display a thumbnail of the image, it would be a great way to narrow down a search. Would it be possible to set it up so people can type the game's name in a "Game" field, the system in a "System" field, etc.? For a visitor to the site, it may be difficult for them to understand that they need to type From system::Nintendo DS. If that's not possible, are Special pages able to be customised to show search instructions at the top?

To clarify, would the semantic search make parent categories unnecessary? Each image would still be assigned the categories, but there wouldn't be a need to navigate through the categories anymore?

I don't have access to the CSS, although my experience is quite minimal to be of much use. I've just tested the following on MarioWiki, and I can't get the headers or the links to show in white, and I'm not sure about how much padding. Sorry about this.

.categorypage1 {
	background: #965f32
	padding:
	color: white;
}

.categorypage1 a:active {
	color: white;
}

.categorypage2 {
	background: #a76937
	padding:
	color: white;
}

.categorypage2 a:active {
	color: white;
}

Hey Immewnity! No worries, I completely understand. Best of luck with your exams!! PS, do you know what makes this file so large? Do you think the metadata will be retained if I overwite it in GIMP to shrink the file size a bit? Cheers! – Shokora (talk) 16:06, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

Source request (Pokémon)

Hey, just got a question about all the high-res art you upload for Pokémon (the recent Sun and Moon stuff, for example) - where exactly do you get it from? I've looked all around but most of the sources listed on other sites just lead back here, plus you usually upload them pretty soon after they're announced. Is there possibly some database they get uploaded to that I haven't been able to find? It'd be really neat if you could show me! --AsdfJosh

Ah, I see. I fully expect the answer to my next question to be "you can't" or at the very least "it's not going to be easy", but I do have to ask - how would I go about gaining access to those resources? --AsdfJosh
I would love to know that too, I want upload higher quality versions of UB-01, UB-02 Absorption and UB-02 Beauty --Moonboy65 (talk) 19:57, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Artwork

Is it OK if I upload PNG versions of the smaller Pokémon artwork? --Moonboy65 (talk) 04:26, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

In case you receive bigger artwork, those can be used. --Moonboy65 (talk) 04:38, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

Request

Hey Immewnity, how's things? I've started a university course in nutrition a number of weeks ago, which is pretty heavy in the work load, but nothing too difficult overall. I hope you're all well.

I was just wondering if you could change my username to Shokora ? I've been starting to use this as my preferred name on other internet communities, including MarioWiki. Thanks!

Skyward Sword code name

Hi. Where did you get the "King2" code name for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword? And, if possible, could you add a "source" column to the code name table. Would be useful for TCRF. --Hiccup (talk) 10:53, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

Okay, and that'd be fine - though examples would be better. Maybe I can find some in the old FTP file listing. --Hiccup (talk) 07:56, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. I wonder if "Wii_King2" is the game name or if files for other games were prefixed with "Wii_" like that? I say this because the string "wiiKing2" can be found unused in the actual game. --Hiccup (talk) 11:23, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Betabase game developers

Hi. Should the developers listed be the actual developers (e.g. Intelligent Systems Vanpool and Nintendo for Sticker Star) or the "authors for the purpose of copyright" as seen on game boxes, credits etc (Nintendo and Intelligent Systems)? And if it is actual developers, should it go into detail of the company subsection (e.g. Nintendo SPD Group No.3 for the part of Nintendo that did Sticker Star). --Hiccup (talk) 10:20, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

I would say to do as much detail as possible (Intelligent Systems, Vanpool, and Nintendo SPD Group No.3). It's not something I've thought about a whole lot, though :P --immewnity (talk) 11:55, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
Okay. Could you the option for multiple developers (like the character1=, character2= or characters= blah1, blah2 of the pidgiwiki infobox)? --Hiccup (talk) 12:46, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
I'm not at my computer, but I'll do that when I get a chance.--immewnity (talk) 18:57, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
Actually, when you do get round to doing it. Could you support something like this:
|developer=Nintendo
|subdeveloper=Nintendo SPD Group No.4
?
|developer2=AlphaDream
? --Hiccup (talk) 11:20, 18 June 2017 (UTC)
Working on this now.--immewnity (talk) 00:21, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

Disabling the "anti-spam link" captcha

Would it be possible for you to do disable it for specific users (e.g. me)? I'm fussing a bit, but it can be annoying. --Hiccup (talk) 10:13, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

Can you send me a screenshot of the captcha you're referring to? There are two I can imagine coming up, and I don't know if one can be disabled.--immewnity (talk) 00:22, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
Here. Same thing with PidgiWiki.
I think I solved it. As long as you've made 50 edits, external link captchas shouldn't show up anymore.--immewnity (talk) 22:53, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. Sorry for asking for something else straight-away (and you may have already answered this), but could you automate moving the files to the betabase? (except videos - I'll manually move them to the youtube channel)--Hiccup (talk) 08:40, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
Also, I just tried editing with a link on PidgiWiki and The Betabase - the captcha still appears. --Hiccup (talk) 14:24, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
There's no good way, unfortunately. If it were just text or images without metadata, yes, but keeping metadata along with the images is next challenging.
Dangit. I'll look into it further.--immewnity (talk) 05:01, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

Problems deleting files

Hey, I tend to go months off of the site. How is it? I also have an issue deleting files that Hiccup marked for deletion. This is the error I get. Gaz (talk) 20:21, 23 June 2017 (UTC)

Also, this is even weirder: File:E3 2004 floor kiosk demo screenshot 2 by Alamy - Super Mario 64 DS.jpg, the file I used to delete as an example, still shows the image but only the info has been deleted. Gaz (talk) 20:24, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
I made a goof a few days ago. Should be fixed now! Any previously deleted images that got messed up like that one will have to be restored and re-deleted.--immewnity (talk) 22:54, 23 June 2017 (UTC)

RE:Burning Shadows art without logo[edit]

Thanks! And no! I edited it myself! I merged the tablet and the desktop wallpapers together with photoshop to fill up the logo's. It's also possible with SM1 and SM2. Enjoy them!

FTP access

Hi Immewnity! I'm a friend of Hiccup's, and he said I should request FTP access to your FTP.

I'm always on the prowl for more Fire Emblem official art pieces to upload to Fire Emblem wikia (so fans can utilize them for references and such), so I'd appreciate it greatly!

-Jordan.

Feel free to DM me on Twitter @robotortoise!

Robotortoise (talk) 00:21, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

I can confirm what Robotortoise has said. --Hiccup (talk) 09:07, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Is this the E3 2002 press kit you uploaded?

Or is it a different one? --Hiccup (talk) 19:27, 2 November 2017 (UTC)

I see. Did it have any physical stuff (documents etc) that weren't on the disc? --Hiccup (talk) 20:41, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
Nice! Could you upload them? And if you haven't scanned the packaging, could you do that and upload? --Hiccup (talk) 07:52, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

waifu2x

Would it be acceptable to use waifu2x to clean up jpg compression on images? For example: Marshadow here has terrible jpg compression, but waifu2x can get rid of it without sacrificing detail, as shown here. Another example would be this and this. Commute (talk) 08:06, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Where did you find the Nintendo Labo svg? The TM is weirdly deformed... Nintandi (talk) 16:53, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

It's the logo used on the website for Nintendo Labo - I don't quite see what you mean about the TM being deformed, though.--immewnity (talk) 19:18, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Just look at the PNG version, and this version and you see that the trademark is deformed with your version Nintandi (talk) 19:43, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Hmm, interesting. I got it from here - I'm curious where those others came from. I'll take a look!--immewnity (talk) 19:50, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Looks like they got their's from the only Nintendo press site we no longer have access to - I'll work on getting them here.--immewnity (talk) 20:09, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Oh, I see, it was for an animation. there is three versions of the tm as you can see here in this animation. It's very weird. Nintandi (talk) 20:13, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, it's a funny issue!--immewnity (talk) 20:21, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Found it! Uploading them now...--immewnity (talk) 22:26, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Where did you find them? Nintandi (talk) 23:44, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Found them on Nintendo Australia's press site, I think. --immewnity (talk) 00:09, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Character Renders

I'm so glad to have found high quality versions of the character renders! My question is will you be uploading all of them? Currently Falco, Palutena, and Shulk are the only characters missing.

Whats Up

Hey Immewnity, long time no see. I got lots to discuss with you. Is there a way to chat via like DIscord or IRC? Gaz (talk) 20:17, 31 July 2018 (UTC)

Pokémon Artwork

Hey Immewnity, it's been a while, where'd you get all the 1000px Pokémon artwork? --Moonboy65 (talk) 03:49, 24 October 2018 (UTC)

Nintendo UK?

Is it possible to check for screenshots for these games on Nintendo UK?:

 • Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City
 • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
 • Super Smash Bros. Brawl
 • Super Smash Bros. for 3DS
 • Star Fox: Assault
 • Star Fox Command

I decided that I actually may have a use for these photos after all. thanks Gaz (talk) 23:14, 29 October 2018 (UTC)

When I get some downtime, I can check.--immewnity (talk) 15:28, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
Okay, want to upload them to the FTP if you do? Gaz (talk) 17:36, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
Yep.--immewnity (talk) 17:48, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
just asking if the screenshots for the above games will be retrieved. TBH, i found a good number of smash 3ds screenshots on the server. maybe just for Animal Crossing, Brawl, and Zelda. Thanks Gaz (talk) 06:02, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
I've been flying around a lot lately, haven't been able to sit down at my computer and get everything from the site.--immewnity (talk) 04:58, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
OK, well I added two more to the list if you ever want to check Gaz (talk) 17:59, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks. I'm finally going to be home for a little bit, so I'll try to get this checked over the weekend.--immewnity (talk) 16:40, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
No problem. :) Gaz (talk) 16:17, 24 November 2018 (UTC)

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Artwork

Hey, you think we could use the artwork from the spirits mode in SSBU for some of the characters on here? --Moonboy65 (talk) 17:08, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Yes!!! Thanks so much for uploading these :D --immewnity (talk) 00:08, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
No problem! If bigger ones ever surface from official sources we can use them. --Moonboy65 (talk) 01:38, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

HeartGold/SoulSilver Artwork

Heyo, been a while, do you remember where all the HGSS pokémon artwork came from? --Moonboy65 (talk) 16:28, 6 April 2019 (UTC)

Is there a link still around that contains the artwork? --Moonboy65 (talk) 17:08, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
Let me know if you can send me the HGSS artwork. --Moonboy65 (talk) 15:42, 16 June 2019 (UTC)

Recent Pokémon Artwork uploads

Hey, where'd you get the Pokémon artworks that are on the first page for the new uploads? --Moonboy65 (talk) 18:33, 26 May 2019 (UTC)

Where did the Houndoom and Dragonite artworks come from? --Moonboy65 (talk) 23:54, 24 June 2019 (UTC)

"Upload a better version of this file" mistake

I recently uploaded a higher res version of the packaging art for AW:DS, but before uploading I foolishly named the file identically to the old version (for whatever reason I thought this would be best) and now the site continues to link to the lower res file. Is there a "best practice" for using this function? Should I upload the file again but with a different file name? I'd like to contribute where I can but I'm still getting used to some of the functionality.

Ah. I am a fool. --Catbus (talk) 02:26, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

Diverse answers to some of your questions

Heya! Im sorry, i just found out how to give you an answer here on this wiki. I tried to reach you via Twitter some months ago, but maybe you didtn got it(?) Is there maybe an easier way than this? Anyway, here are my answers for you questions!

The transparent Ristar-graphic and the sonic-3d-graphic are from my internet collection. I'm sorry, but i can't give you an accurate answer where i got it from, but it has a tumblr-name so it has to be from one of the many pages i follow. (highly probable https://thevideogameartarchive.tumblr.com/archive). The guy, who uploads his scans does some interesting things with his graphics, i didnt know that the sonic-render is involved too! So if i am right, the graphics are cut out from him and not from me.

The SNES Boxes are official from my point, i downloaded them from a cloud many years ago. I still got them all, but the cloud, where i got it from is offline now. But if there is an interest, i will upload some more of them.

Thats it. Have a nice evening and stay healthy!

.MOV files

Heya!

I have two Xenoblade Chronicles Wii game trailers that are .mov files that are nowhere else in their raw form as far as I can tell. They were originally in MOV format, and I don't want to lose any quality.

Is it possible to upload .mov files?

Wing Mario art

Hi there, hope you're well! I just had a question regarding the new version of File:Wing Mario - Super Mario 64.png, was the transparent version officially released, or was it done manually? The edges seem very rough, and a patch of background is still intact at Mario's left wrist.

Shokora (talk) 14:30, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

Haha, I suppose they didn't have the original file conveniently laying around. It definitely exists as seen with this smaller but properly transparent version on the new 35th anniversary site. In fact there's a lot of miscellaneous artwork on that site, which aren't all full size but do have original transparencies, like this one. Do we want them all?
By the way, we just hit 24,000 images with File:Mario - Super Mario Bros.png !
