Here at PidgiWiki, we want all files uploaded to be easily accessible to anyone who wants to access them. This accessibility means that we must categorize and name all files with the same patterns. This page will aid in naming any files uploaded.

General rules

There are a number of rules that must be put in place for general usage.

Other language art

File:Black logo FR.jpg
Parle-tu français?

As you have (hopefully) guessed by reading this page, PidgiWiki is currently targeted to English-speaking audiences. While no other languages have been announced, the MediaWiki software has a built-in language switcher accessible via the preferences page. However, the default language is currently English, meaning that files must be named in English. For images with other language texts, put the two-letter country code at the very end of the image, i.e. Black logo FR.

Alternate or old artwork

As with most things, a lot of artwork gets revised over time. For example, Ken Sugimori has drawn Ho-Oh's stock art at least five times since the reveal of Generation II. Therefore, PidgiWiki must have some way to distinguish between these. If known, add the generation number in Roman numerals at the end of the name, i.e. Lugia Sugimori II. If unknown, simply add "alt" to the end, i.e. Pikachu Sugimori alt. For multiple alternate images, add a number at the end starting at 2, i.e. Deerling anime alt 2. If two images of the same generation are available, place "alt" after the numeral.

Stock artwork

For the majority of stock artwork, name files as Character Artist, i.e. Pidgey Sugimori and Lenora Sugimori. There are, however, a couple specific cases.

Anime stock art

For anime stock at, name files as Character anime, i.e. Venusaur anime.

Form/Forme artwork

As evidenced by the spelling in the title, the naming of Forms or Formes have been debated throughout the fandom, with criteria for each name still under scrutiny. To avoid any of this fighting here, PidgiWiki will avoid using Form of Forme at all, with the form name being directly after the Pokémon name, i.e. Shaymin Sky Sugimori.

TCG cards

TCG cards are to be named in the CardName SetCode CardNo., i.e. Aggron TM 1. Set codes can be found here; do note that POP cards should be named OP#, not POP or POP#. Trainer Kit cards should be named with TK#.
